Why Peaceful Wellness? My Journey

Day to day, we are bombarded and easily influenced by social media, advertisements, and the voices in the back our mind from long ago. Those voices that denigrate, criticize, belittle us as well as compare us to others. Those voices keep us searching for what is outside of us that might make us happy as it urges us to keep searching for the next remedy or body improvement.

We can make many changes on the outside, but if we still have recurring negative self-talk and stress that is out of control, then are we truly peaceful and well? What we do not realize is that it is vital that we make inner shifts to our overall well-being. We must start within and unite with our True Self so that we may find the calm needed to go through this journey called “life.” Stress, we have to realize, is the biggest catalyst to many of our emotional and physical maladies.

I know I certainly heard that inner critical voice and have experienced stress, PTSD, and depression in the past. I also have chronic pain with fibromyalgia and migraines, besides other health challenges. At times it was difficult in dealing with my body and my symptoms, and it caused anxiety and stress and personal inner pain as I lamented my past thin and healthy body. When I was thin and looked healthy years ago, I was internally miserable a good bit of the time, even with all of my mind, body, and spirit practices.

When I was at my lowest point health-wise in 2015, I realized that I had to deepen my inner spiritual work, and this came with the help of my mentor. This even after being a meditation practitioner since 1980, yoga since 1996, and a spiritual teacher since the early 90s. What more could I do? With my mentor, I worked on an extended practice of Metta which is loving-kindness. I had to come back to loving and focusing on myself after years of teaching and caring for others. This focus on myself made a noticeable difference in my life. At the time, my health improved, my outlook on life was more positive, and I loved who I was no matter what shape my body was currently in.

This is what peaceful wellness is all about. It’s not just about losing X number of pounds or being perfectly healthy and in shape. It is asking the question within, “Am I happy and at peace in my life?” And if the answer is “No,” then it’s a wakeup call to determining what will bring you that happiness, balance, and serenity.

And honestly, I am still on the peaceful wellness journey myself. I had a setback a year ago with my fibromyalgia that caused tremendous pain over a period of six months. After being without medication for a few years, I acknowledged that I needed an intervention so I would be able to function. Once I did this and again deepened my practice, I returned to a more viable sense of well-being. Unfortunately, the medication caused a large amount of weight gain, again, and with it the critical voice arose telling me who was I to speak about wellness.

Who am I not to? I know if I can be calm and steady with where I am in the moment, it makes my life one more at ease. If I can be centered and grounded when life throw various roadblocks in my way, then a sense of peace is mine. If I can remember that my Pure Essence that tells me that I am Divinely loved even while being in this body temporarily then I am in harmony with life.

Stress and anxiety, coupled with PTSD, chronic pain or illness, keeps us on the hamster wheel going in circles. I experienced it, and probably you are experiencing it now.

I know for me that practices such as meditation, mindfulness, yoga, sound energy healing, aromatherapy and spirituality, my well-being is enhanced and uplifted. I have a more confident sense of self. I am happier and experience more joy in the little things in life. I am in the here and now.

I want to share this with you whether in my classes or in private sessions. I offer both in person and online. Consider the peaceful wellness journey.

Peaceful Wellness Journey

If we have been out of balance in one area or another due to stress, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, grief or chronic pain or illness, we experience an imbalance in our physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects. While different factors might inspire your journey, when you prioritize wellness from a peaceful state, it will uncover many benefits as a result. Thus, our journey to wellness first starts with the intention within. Our desire for balance will lead us to modalities, possibly ancient ones, that will assist us to achieve a harmonious state. When the body is at rest and the mind is calm, this activates the relaxation response. This response helps to affect the symptoms felt and release suppressed emotions that initiate the self-healing process. Doing so helps to bring about a sense of well-being, clarity, and peace.

Classes & Private Sessions

In a safe and supportive atmosphere, be met where you are as you experience a combination of mind, body, and spirit tools to lead you to peaceful wellness. Sound energy healing can help remove blockages, release the mind of judgments, as well as relax and renew with a sound “massage.” Yoga practices can soothe and soften tension.
